To honor and celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month and International Jazz Day, True Blue Jazz presents a great night of Straight Ahead Jazz at Saketumi in Rehoboth Beach DE, on Saturday, April 29th. True Blue Jazz will present a Legacy Jazz Event, featuring Peggy Raley & the wonderful Jazz Vocal Talent of Helene Nicoletti performing a tribute to The Ladies of Jazz!
Backed by a powerhouse group of the Mid-Atlantics' top Jazz Musicians...it will be a night of "thru de roof" jazz improv from these players that will leave wanting more or wanting a CD!!! Helene Nicoletti comes to the show with a rich performing history, and a voice of equal depth, aching to breathe new life into heath of her selections. And...you can be sure the songs sung will be delivered from the heart, filled with emotion when Peggy Raley takes the stage. Vince Lardear is a past East Coast Jazz Festival Emerging Artist Award recipient. He is a former member of the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra under trombonist Buddy Morrow and was lead alto with the Illinois Jacquet Big Band. He has recorded with Grammy Award winning saxophonist Phil Woods. He has served as guest conductor of the Delaware All-State Junior High Jazz Band and has been a lecturer on jazz and contemporary music for the Delaware Humanities Forum. Vince's talent is a dominating presence on the jazz scene in Philadelphia and the surrounding Tri-State area.
Peggy Raley is THE Jazz Vocal Diva of the Mid-Atlantic. With her signature moniker of "Wine, Woman & Song" because of her ownership of Nassau Valley Vineyards, Peggy nurtures every Jazz number she performs with the same love & care that she has bestowed on each of the Vines of her Vineyard. No one brings more heart and emotional connection to these songs that are The Great American Songbook.
As a jazz musician he has performed with a wide variety of artists including Ernie Watts, Sean Jones, Monty Alexander, Randy Brecker, Valery Ponamarev, Doc Severenson, Bobbie McFerrin, The Tommy Dorsey Band, Nelson Riddle Orchestra, Billy Eckstein, Ray Charles, Joe Sudler's Swing Machine, Jimmy Bruno, Ben Vereen, Vic Damone, Rosemary Clooney, James Moody, The Ed Vezinho Jim Ward Big Band,and Denis DiBlasio. Doug Mapp is a Professor of Jazz Studies at Rowan University.
